So here it goes...
I met with the endocrinologist on Monday. Some of the test results were good and some were scary. It was reconfirmed I have the endometerial hyperplasia and I also have PCOS. My hormone levels were completely wacked and my insulin was borderline. They want me to go on some meds. He strongly recommended since I was determined to try and loss weight with out surgery that I follow a diet that consists of foods that are low on the glycemic index. So, I printed out a list and am trying to eat the foods that are low mostly. Some that are medium and none of the high foods. It would be great if this could help me. I have been stuck for so long. I am giving it another go.

Good luck with the changes you are making to your diet! I have some family members that have done very well by eating according to the glycemic index.
ReplyDeleteI was diagnosed with PCOS in 2003. I have managed to lose almost 40 lbs in 2 years. PCOS has definitely made losing weight much more of a struggle than for your average Joe - but it can be done! I am on Metformin for my insulin and it helps me maintain my weight. I wish you the best - and give that PCOS some hell!!!

Hey there - I started the same sort of diet (am hypoglycemic), only I concentrate on eating every three hours and I always have some version of protein. I have managed to lose 13 lbs in 3 weeks, something I couldn't manage in 3 months when I was trying Weight Watchers. I started at 318.5 and, like you, want to do this without surgical intervention. I'm sorry that your diagnosis wasn't better news but now you know what you're up against and can form a plan. Not only to lose weight but to become the mommy that you want to be.
ReplyDeleteBeing diagnosed with PCOS also explains why you may not have had as much sucess with "dieting" as other women without PCOS. So all of that beating yourself up was so unnecessary! I think this GI diet is going to change your world. You're a determined woman and I know you'll do it. I just have faith in you!

Hey keep your chin up I just read a dew of your other posts. I think U'll be ok. I now what you mean when people are horrible i had someone say the beach is that way and last weekend some guy cycled by and said skinny skinny he's lucky i didn't kick him off his fucking bike (next time lol) I think all the abuse over the years has made me have anger issues lol only way to deal with it without crying. I am struggling as well with the fybramyalgia it's hard to walk some days. We will get there. And like I said before you are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi~ I followed your link to this blog from your Siggy on SOulcysters.com. Youactually posted on a thread I started. My SN is kalico24 on SC. Anyway, I am new to the PCOS stuff as I just got my DX 2 weeks ago after expereincing some infertility. Anyway, I have started the Insulin Resistance diet and have been pretty successful so far. I have lost about 7 pounds in 2 weeks. But what I wanted to mention was the in addition to the low GI foods, you should also be linking and balancing those foods with protein. Google "the insulin resistance diet" and read about linking and balancing. (the short hand is never eat more than 30g of carbs at a time AND link/balance with at least 15g protein) There is something about eating carbs with prorein that helps your body use the carbs for energy rather than store as fat.
